Re: Instant Karma |
If you're interested your pristine prose first came up as James Joyce and then as Dan Brown. Well I guess it's got to be pretty close to call between those two, huh?
:-)

I came up as Kurt Vonnegut and Margaret Atwood (amongst others) and when I tried Kurt Vonnegut he came up as Margaret Atwood too! This is cutting edge software here!

Re: Instant Karma |
Didn't Pynchon write Gravity's Rainbow? I read that back in high school and it was a struggle to get through. I need something lighter like Cormac McCarthy's "The Road" - now there's a nice cheery book for you.
I could google it but I'm lazy.........
I just started Keegan's "Second World War" again based on a post I skimmed last week. Made me rummage through the bookcases. Probably will need to start over after FloydFest this week.

Re: Instant Karma |
yes - Gravity's Rainbow is Pynchon's. And yes, it is a tremendously difficult read. I almost threw the book across the room several times amidst its 800 pages.
However, it is a VERY satisfying accomplishment when you are actually done reading it :)
One of the greatest works of 20th century literature (imho)
did you see the film version of The Road?? I finally saw it and was somewhat disappointed. I know I shouldnt have been - that is a very difficult novel to put to film.

Re: Instant Karma |
dire , I was thinking about beginning a thread on The Road . Your interest let's me know I'll have at least one reply if I do . The book left me in ' deep ' thought for some time . I can not recall a book that I passed around like that one ( I even got it back , on time , on multiple occasions - that never happens ) .
The movie , well I better start that thread , soon . ;)

Re: Instant Karma |
Dumb computer program? Well, possibly ...
My 14-year-old tested it by typing in something like the following:
jklj jad zjklwe asd lfjaeuirw qeulkja
It came up as JD Salinger.
So it's either it's amazingly perceptive and saw through to the "rebellious, sarcastic adolescent" component, or ... it tells us something about the value of computer analysis of qualitative topics :-)

Re: Instant Karma |
A passage from Ulysses generated Ernest Hemingway. Hemingway and Joyce were drinking buddies. Joyce published the first edition of Ulysses right about the same time he met Hemingway. Hemingway died in Idaho, famous for its spuds.
Creepy.
